The Derby

I'm debating on whether or not to go to the Kentucky Derby this weekend. I really want to go but it is going to rain. Yesterday the chance of rain for Saturday was 60% and today it has been upgraded to 90%.

A few years ago I went there with a some friends. It rained the two days before the derby but stopped before the derby started. The infield was sort of muddy but not too bad. It was awesome and something I definitely want to do again. The infield was a gigantic party. There were girls wrestling in the mud, people running on top of rows of porta potties, and many other interesting things I should not talk about. Below is a video of two guys porta potty racing at the Preakness. It's pretty funny, especially when they are getting pelted with bear cans.

Aaron and I both won a couple hundred bucks on the race that year. Below is a picture of our victory cigars.

My plan is to keep watching the weather and make a last minute decision. Lets hope for the best!

Fire Truck and Emergency Vehicle Show

Last week Thursday and Friday I went to a fire truck and emergency vehicle show in Indianapolis. We make a lot of products for this industry so my company has a booth at this show every year. This show is huge. It fills up Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indianapolis convention center. The opening ceremony had the NYFD band walking through the aisles of the stadium playing bagpipes in their kilts. It was pretty cool and sounded great inside the stadium

Our salesman mostly stay at our booth and I walk around to check out our competitors products and also discuss new projects with our customers. Below are pictures of the floor in Lucas oil stadium. My niece and nephew would be in heaven with all these firetrucks!

For some reason the guy from Chips was promoting some university at the show. If I wanted to wait in line I could have gotten a picture taken with him and an autograph.

Saturday Chops, Travis and I went to Peru Indiana to watch Cody race his mini sprint car. The race was rained out but while we were out in Indiana we decided to stop at Salamonie Lake to check out the water height and temperature. The water was down about 15 feet and the temperature of the water was around 55 degrees. I think it might be a little while before we get in that water!

The power of the internet

Nic and my brother decided to make fun of me today via email. So I decided to retaliate via the Internet

This is Nic. "we shouldn't be here... I'm not suppose to be this close to a school"

"look at me, I'm a pretty pretty princess"

This is my brother Joe. "hey, where did all the tomatoes go?"

And this is me doing what I do best. "what's that? a danzel in distress. I'm on my way"

Marisa and Greg's wedding and a tour of the Bengals stadium... life is good!

This weekend I went to a wedding in Newport Kentucky. The reception was held at the Syndicate. It was a pretty old building and in the past it was Al Capone's home away from home when he was not in Chicago. Evidently there was hidden rooms and hallways in the building. It was pretty cool

Marisa is one of my best friends little sister. She looked absolutely amazing!

Us guys looked pretty good too. We almost felt bad looking so good and taking attention away from the bride.

The next day after the wedding we got a tour of the Bengals stadium. My buddy Jason has some great connections with his job. We walked out the same tunnel that the players do. For some reason they didn't shoot off fireworks for us though.

This is the call a ref would make when a good kicker kicks a field goal.

A picture of Nic and I discussing some major football strategy in the visitors locker room

Ya we are that bad ass. Positively no visitors.. what does that even mean?

The cheerleaders happened to be in that day!

There are many more pictures of the wedding and the Bengals stadium on my shutterfly site. Use the Josh's Pics link to the right to view them

Top Recruit Tricked Into Committing To Notre Dame

ST. PAUL, MN—One of the most sought-after high school recruits of the year, Sean Harrisson, a 270-pound, 6-foot-2 linebacker, unwittingly signed with Notre Dame after Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly played a series of mind tricks on the senior. "Wait, I just signed with who?" said a baffled Harrison, whose facial expression turned to shock and horror as he noticed Notre Dame football logos all around him. "Oh my God, no. No no no. See, I couldn't understand what he [Brian Kelly] was saying. He gave me this drink, and things were getting hazier and hazier, and then he kept telling me, 'Do not not say no if you do not want to not play for a top 10 program.' I was so confused, I said no. Wait a minute—I could've sworn he was wearing a Miami Hurricanes hat when he got here." This is not the first case of the Fighting Irish manipulating a youngster into signing with them, as demonstrated by the case of former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn, who was infamously tricked into attending the school after being told South Bend, IN had a thriving gay nightclub scene

Funny of the day

I asked a girl to buy her a drink, she said I have a boyfriend, so I said, well I have a goldfish, she said what? I replied, oh I'm sorry I thought we were talking about shit that doesn’t matter.

WTF?

Last night I went to Oreilly Auto Parts. When I walked out this is what I saw. I just had to take a picture!

He must have been picking up parts to get his vehicle running. Do to the fact that he drove a lawnmower to the store I am assuming he typically drives an early 80's Chevy pickup, probably with camouflage paint and a decal that says "cowboy up" or "get er done"

Much to my surprise there was not a cup holder with a Budweiser on the lawnmower.

Reds 3, Cubs 4 :(

Saturday afternoon I went to Great American Ballpark to watch the reds play. It was sunny and a great day for a base ball game.

The first 4 innings were pretty good. The Reds had a 3-0 lead over the Cubs but the Cubs came back to tie it up and take the lead in the 8th.

I went to the game with a Cubs fan and of course while the reds were winning and Phillips hit a home run I had to rub it into the Cubs fan. There might have been a little excessive cheering by myself but the drunken Reds fan beside me really liked it.

Eventually the the Cubs took the lead and won the game. I guess I got what I deserved after being so cocky. By the way the pictures were taken before the Reds lost otherwise I wouldn't have been smiling!
